Helpful info for travelling in and outside Newfoundland Labrador

Ferry and Highway Port Aux Basques:
I’m amazed at the speed that they can off load vehicles from the ferry, however; speeds are extremely high on the highway and some drivers take unnecessary chances when passing. Not impressed with the condition of the Trans Canada, East of Stephenville.

Restaurants and Services from Port Aux Basques to Corner Brook. I’m not aware of any restaurants, other than off the highway at Stephenville.

Please feel free to e mail any info that you would like to share with your fellow travelers.

What is “The Boot?”   The Burin Peninsula is called “The Boot” because the peninsula is shaped like a boot

Where is The Heritage RunThe Burin Peninsula

Where is The Marine Drive?  It is the coastal highway taking in Torbay, Logy Bay, Flatrock, Outer Cove, Middle Cove and Pouch Cove. I’ve travelled this area numerous times and  the scenery can change with the weather. Great ocean views.

The Caribou Trail:   The Burgeo Highway off The Trans Canada near Port Aux Basques.

The Admiral’s Coast: The area from Paradise to Colliers in Conception Bay. Some of the best scenery is from the CBS Bypass heading west. Also, nice ocean views from Paradise through Topsail and taking The old CBS Highway through to Colliers.

The Manuel’s River walking trail and the Holyrood inner harbour boardwalk and trail are two must see stops on the route.

Long Pond Harbour and partial view of Kelly’s Island.
